ESI-OpenCFD produces the OpenFOAM® open source CFD toolbox and distributes it through the OpenFOAM Foundation. OpenCFD Ltd was established in 2004 to coincide with the release of its OpenFOAM software under general public licence. The company was founded by: Henry Weller, the creator of OpenFOAM and its chief developer from inception to the present day; Chris Greenshields, Director of Engineering Operations; and, Mattijs Janssens, prolific core developer and creator of snappyHexMesh. In 2012, OpenCFD became a wholly owned subsidiary of the ESI Group following acquisition from SGI Corp (who had acquired OpenCFD in 2011).

OpenFOAM Services

OpenCFD has unrivalled experience with OpenFOAM. It is the organisation that successfully develops, manages and releases the OpenFOAM software and, for the past 8 years, has provided services to numerous science/engineering companies, consultancies and universities.

  • Training: delivered approx 170 training courses to approx 2000 OpenFOAM users.
